Job Description: Athletic Equipment Manager
Position Overview:
The Athletic Equipment Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of athletic equipment for sports teams and athletes. This role requires a strong understanding of sports medicine practices and equipment maintenance, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. The Athletic Equipment Manager will work closely with athletes, coaches, and other team members to ensure the availability, safety, and functionality of athletic equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the procurement, inventory, and distribution of athletic equipment, ensuring timely availability and proper maintenance.
2. Collaborate with coaches and trainers to determine the specific equipment needs for each sport and athlete, considering safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.
3. Conduct regular equipment inspections, identify any damages or wear, and arrange for repairs or replacements as needed.
4. Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, including tracking usage, repairs, and maintenance history.
5. Develop and implement equipment maintenance schedules to ensure long-term functionality and optimal performance.
6. Coordinate equipment fittings for athletes, ensuring proper sizing and fit for safety and comfort.
7. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in sports equipment, and safety regulations to recommend necessary upgrades or changes to equipment.
8. Assist in budget planning and forecasting for athletic equipment needs, ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions.
9. Train and supervise equipment staff, providing guidance on equipment handling, maintenance, and safety protocols.
10. Collaborate with athletic trainers and medical staff on the safe and appropriate use of specialized equipment for rehabilitation and injury prevention.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, or a related field.
2. Proven experience working as an Athletic Equipment Manager or in a similar role within a sports organization.
3. In-depth knowledge of various sports equipment, including their uses, maintenance, and safety standards.
4. Familiarity with sports medicine practices, athletic training principles, and injury prevention techniques.
5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage equipment inventory and records accurately.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with athletes, coaches, and other team members effectively.
7. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced sports environment.
8. Proficient in using equipment management software and computer skills to maintain inventory records and generate reports.
